One of the strongest pillars of Indian cinema, Aamir Khan kickstarted the 100 crore, 200 crore and 300 crore club with ‘Ghajini‘, ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘PK’ respectively. In the 90s, Aamir Khan started focusing on one film at a time and until 2014, he had one film release every year, except for the break after ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Dil Chahta Hai’. But since 2016, when he gave ‘Dangal‘, Aamir Khan has had only three big screen releases, one of which was his guest role in ‘Secret Superstar’. In 2018, he gave ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ with Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif, which failed to impress the audience. After this, he took a break to work on ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’, which was the official remake of Tom Hanks’ ‘Forrest Gump’. Released in 2022, the film did not leave much of a mark.
This is the first time he has given two consecutive flops. According to sources, Aamir Khan is pushing to make his production house the most prestigious and for this he has roped in Aparna Purohit of Prime Video to head it.
He already has several films lined up like Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta in lead roles, Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Lahore 1947‘, Vir Das’ ‘Happy Patel’ and two films by Junaid Khan, one with Sai Pallavi and the other with Khushi Kapoor. Sources say that perfectionist Aamir Khan is also making big plans for his acting career. Our source revealed, “Aamir is planning to return to his ‘one film a year’ strategy again and intends to do at least one film every year.” This year his film ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ is set for Christmas, which also stars Genelia D’Souza and he also has a cameo in ‘Happy Patel’. Next, he is in talks with several filmmakers and announcements are expected in due course of time.
