Breaking news came from the  Malayalam film industry. Mohanlal, a celebrated actor, has stepped down from his role as the President of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). He made this decision after a shocking report came out from the Justice K. Hema Committee. The report exposed serious issues of harassment and abuse that women in the industry have been facing. It described how women have been treated unfairly and have endured many difficult situations, which sparked a lot of anger and calls for action.

After the report was released, Mohanlal and the entire 16-member executive committee of AMMA decided to resign together. This came right after Siddique, who was the General Secretary of AMMA, quit his position following allegations of sexual assault against him. His resignation was quickly followed by Baburaj, who had taken over as the acting General Secretary. Baburaj is also facing similar accusations, leading to his withdrawal.

The Hema Committee’s findings have had a huge impact, with several female actors stepping forward to share their own distressing experiences. The report has really shaken things up in the industry.

In response, the Kerala government has stepped in. They’ve formed a special investigation team made up of seven members to look into these crimes against women in the industry. This decision followed a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The special investigation team had its first official meeting yesterday to begin tackling these serious issues.
