Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira Kapoor often show us what a supportive couple looks like. Shahid has had a fantastic career, with lots of hit films, but Mira once shared a fun piece of trivia about a movie she wished he’d been in.
On an episode of Koffee with Karan, Mira was asked which film she thought Shahid would have been great in. Without missing a beat, she said Rockstar, the 2011 film starring Ranbir Kapoor.
What’s interesting is the backstory of Rockstar. Imtiaz Ali, who directed and wrote the film, revealed to Mid-Day that the project almost didn’t see the light of day. The idea had been floating around for years, but it wasn’t until Ali met Ranbir Kapoor that things started to change.
Initially, Ali had another script in mind for Ranbir, but Ranbir was so excited about Rockstar that he ended up discussing it passionately. Ali realized then that Ranbir was the perfect choice for the role. By the end of their meeting, Ranbir was on board, and Ali promised to bring him the script.
Rockstar eventually became a big hit with Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri in the lead roles, and a strong supporting cast that included Aditi Rao Hydari, Piyush Mishra, Shernaz Patel, Kumud Mishra, and Shammi Kapoor. The film’s soundtrack, composed by A. R. Rahman, is a major highlight.
