In a whirlwind of controversy, Coldplay’s upcoming concert in Mumbai has turned into a ticketing nightmare for BookMyShow. The Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has issued a second summons to CEO Ashish Hemrajani and the technical head for allegedly facilitating the black market sale of concert tickets. After missing the initial summons on September 27, the duo is now under increasing scrutiny as fans voice their outrage over inflated ticket prices, skyrocketing from ₹2,500 to as high as ₹3 lakh on the secondary market.

The storm brewed after Advocate Amit Vyas filed a complaint, alleging that Big Tree Entertainment, the parent company of BookMyShow, was complicit in the ticket scalping frenzy. According to Vyas, legitimate fans found themselves logged out or blocked from purchasing tickets, leaving the sale wide open for bots and unscrupulous scalpers to cash in on the frenzy. The concert is scheduled for January 19-21, 2025, at DY Patil Stadium, but if this black market continues, many fans may be left out in the cold.

The situation has escalated further, with Shiv Sena (UBT faction) spokesperson Anand Dubey calling for an investigation into the alleged collusion behind this ticketing scandal. He pointed out that despite the official declaration of a sellout, tickets were still being offered through unofficial channels at outrageous prices, leaving genuine fans feeling duped.

As this saga unfolds, will Coldplay fans find a way to enjoy the show, or will they be left singing the blues? Keep an eye on this developing story as it promises to be as dramatic as any concert encore!
