The buzz surrounding Alia Bhatt’s casting in Jigra has taken an unexpected turn, with Somen Mishra stepping in to clarify recent speculations. After a promotional interview with director Vasan Bala sparked controversy—where he expressed dissatisfaction over Karan Johar sharing a rough draft with Alia—rumors began swirling that Bhatt’s involvement was anything but intentional.

Mishra, co-producer of the film, has taken to social media to put those rumors to rest. He emphatically stated, “We were DYING to get Alia on board. She is MAGIC on screen.” This comes in response to claims that Bala was displeased with the situation, as he had sent an early draft of the script to Karan Johar, only to discover it had already been forwarded to Alia before he had a chance to polish it.

In an interview with Tried & Refused Productions, Bala had humorously remarked on the situation, noting, “I wasn’t happy because I would have at least done some spellcheck.” However, Mishra is adamant that the narrative being painted—one suggesting Alia’s casting was an afterthought—couldn’t be further from the truth. “If she had said no, I don’t know who else could have played Satya. Everything else is nonsense,” he added.

The film, set to release on October 11, is an emotional thriller about a brave young woman on a quest to rescue her brother, played by newcomer Vedang Raina. With such high stakes, one can’t help but wonder if this casting controversy is a clever PR stunt to drive interest in the film.

As the release date approaches, fans and critics alike will be watching closely. Was this merely a misunderstanding, or is there more beneath the surface? In the entertainment industry, perceptions can shift as quickly as the winds, and Jigra is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about films this season .
