Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina’s latest release Jigra has hit the screens, but it seems the real drama is happening off-screen. Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions, Jigra has faced one controversy after another, sparking more attention than its box office numbers.

Divya Khossla’s Jab: Jailbreak Jitters?
Right from the get-go, Jigra was compared to Divya Khossla Kumar’s Savi—both sharing a jailbreak theme. Netizens questioned the similarities, leading Divya to subtly shade Alia by claiming Savi’s success is due to its “merits.” The rivalry between the two films quickly lit up social media, adding fuel to the fire.

Script Leak: Karan’s Premature Move?
Director Vasan Bala wasn’t too thrilled when Karan Johar sent a rough script of Jigra to Alia without his final approval. The internet, as always, was quick to pounce, accusing Karan of favoritism. Johar, however, dismissed the rumors as “ludicrous,” but the gossip mill spun on, as netizens speculated about his preferential treatment.

No Pre-Release Screenings: Is Dharma Playing It Safe?
Days before its release, Dharma Productions made a bold move by scrapping pre-release screenings for their upcoming films, including Jigra. The decision, they claimed, was to preserve the “cinematic experience.” Critics, however, couldn’t help but wonder if it was a tactical retreat amid rising controversy.

Divya Khossla Fires Again: Empty Theatres, Full of Accusations
Divya Khossla didn’t stop at comparisons—she accused the makers of Jigra of inflating box office numbers. Posting an image of an empty theater, she sarcastically congratulated Alia for her “Jigra” (guts) in announcing “fake” collections. The battle of words escalated as Karan Johar hit back with a cryptic post, saying, “Silence is the best speech you will ever give to fools.” Divya responded in kind, hinting that truth always offends “fools.”

With Jigra off to a slow start and embroiled in an ongoing battle with Divya Khossla’s Savi, the film’s real challenge might be winning over the audience, rather than escaping from the prison of controversy. Will Jigra break free or remain locked in the shadow of drama? Stay tuned to find out!
