In a thrilling announcement for cinema lovers, Dharma Productions has revealed that Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday will headline an upcoming film based on the life of renowned Indian barrister C. Sankaran Nair. The film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, is set to hit theaters on March 14, 2025.

C. Sankaran Nair is celebrated for his pivotal role in exposing the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre during the British Raj. The film draws inspiration from the book The Case That Shook The Empire, authored by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, with Raghu being the great-grandson of C. Sankaran Nair.

Dharma Productions took to Instagram to share the release date, captioning the post: “Ek ankahi kahani, ek ansuna sach…Starring Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan & Ananya Panday – this untitled film is releasing in cinemas on 14th March, 2025.”

Karan Johar, who previously announced the project in 2021, expressed his excitement about bringing the untold story of C. Sankaran Nair to life on the big screen. He emphasized the importance of Nair’s bravery, stating, “This film unravels the legendary courtroom battle that Sankaran Nair fought against the British Raj to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. His courage ignited the freedom struggle across the country and serves as a testament to the power of fighting for the truth.”

C. Sankaran Nair was not only a prominent lawyer but also served as the former President of the Indian National Congress and was a member of the Viceroy’s Executive Council, making his story a significant part of India’s history.

With a stellar cast and a powerful narrative, this film promises to be a compelling addition to the Indian cinematic landscape, shedding light on a crucial chapter in the country’s fight for independence. Fans are eagerly awaiting its release!
