Shruti Haasan recently opened up about her dating experiences and what she seeks in an ideal partner during an appearance on Tinder Swipe Ride with host Kusha Kapila. The actress got real about how financial independence has affected her relationships, sharing anecdotes of men who expected her to always pick up the tab.
Shruti on Splitting Bills
In her conversation, Shruti revealed that some men assumed she would cover the bill just because of her financial stability. “I’ve had situations where guys didn’t even offer to pay, thinking, ‘You have money, so you should pay,’” Shruti said, adding that while paying for things is her “love language,” it eventually became frustrating. “After three months, I realized I was paying for everything! And the guy would be like, ‘But I thought you love doing that.’”
The Salaar actress emphasized how important financial independence is for women, but also noted the need for balance in relationships. “Now I’m very particular about splitting the bill,” she shared, ensuring that future dates know the importance of mutual financial contribution.

When asked about what she looks for in a partner, Shruti didn’t hesitate to list out her must-haves. “A good sense of humor and someone who likes to have fun,” she mentioned, stressing that her ideal man should also be financially sensitive. She encouraged couples to go on dates to places that are affordable for both, instead of making one person bear the brunt.
