Kangana Ranaut is back in the headlines after her recent Instagram post appeared to downplay Mahatma Gandhi’s status as the Father of the Nation. While paying tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary during Gandhi Jayanti, she stated, “Desh ke pita nahi, desh ke to lal hote hai” (The country does not have fathers; it has sons), causing an uproar.

Political leaders quickly condemned her remarks. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate called her the BJP’s “new Godse devotee,” emphasizing that respect for all national figures is essential. Senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia criticized Kangana for her habit of making controversial statements, asserting, “Politics is not her field.”

This isn’t Kangana’s first controversial outing; she previously faced backlash for comments regarding farmers’ protests, labeling them as creating a “Bangladesh-like situation.”

As the dust settles on her latest remarks, one wonders whether Kangana is navigating politics or simply embracing the role of a provocateur.
