Despite facing competition from two other Bollywood films, Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa, Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming film Stree 2 is already leading the race, having sold over 100,000 tickets within just 48 hours of advance bookings opening, with two days still remaining until its theatrical release.

According to reports, the film has sold 124,402 advance tickets for the first day, generating Rs 4.09 crore in advance bookings so far. The makers announced on Saturday that advance booking for Stree 2 had opened. The film is set to release in theatres on August 14, on the eve of Independence Day, with night shows starting from 9:30 p.m, as announced by Maddock Films on their social media pages.

In contrast, the advance booking for Khel Khel Mein appears sluggish, with only 2,042 tickets sold for day one, generating Rs 8.74 lakh. On the other hand, John Abraham’s Vedaa sold 5,969 tickets and earned Rs 18.07 lakh in advance bookings for day one.

Judging by the advance booking trends, Stree 2’s box office journey looks promising. The original film, Stree, was also a massive box office success, earning Rs 180 crore against a budget of Rs 25 crore. It also spearheaded Maddock Films’ Supernatural Universe, delivering hits such as Bhediya and Munjya.

Stree 2 is directed by Amar Kaushik, who also helmed Bhediya and Stree.
