Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh finds himself in the midst of a controversy after a London-based backup dancer dropped out of the European leg of his Dil-Luminati Tour, citing disrespectful and stressful working conditions. The dancer’s accusations, which surfaced online, claim that the management team displayed unprofessional behavior and failed to treat the performers with respect.
The dancer, who had initially been excited to join the tour, said she was disillusioned by the treatment she and other dancers received. She also referenced an earlier issue regarding unpaid dues during Dosanjh’s US tour in July, which had stirred controversy at the time but was denied by the singer’s team.
According to the dancer, performers were offered £80 (around Rs 8,800) for the European leg, while being expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses. She revealed that despite being sold on the idea that this was a “once in a lifetime” opportunity, the reality was far from glamorous. “The way they treated us reflected in how little they valued us,” she said, voicing her frustration over the lack of respect and last-minute rehearsals that disrupted the performances.
The chaotic atmosphere and failure to prioritize the dancers’ well-being led the performer to withdraw from the tour altogether. She described her experience as riddled with poor communication and anxiety, with her messages to the management often going ignored and dancers being abruptly removed without explanation.
In response to these allegations, a source close to Dosanjh’s team fired back, labeling the claims as “baseless and untrue.” The source said, “With a superstar like Diljit, it’s easy for anyone to comment and turn it into news,” implying that these accusations were exaggerated and not reflective of the actual working environment.
The drama surrounding the Dil-Luminati Tour continues to grow, adding to Diljit Dosanjh’s rising fame not just in the music world, but in the arena of controversy too!
