The widely recognized OTT movie ‘Laapata Ladies’ received much attention from the fans upon its release. Now, big announcement is made by the filmmaker Kiran Rao. Netflix release Laapata Ladies, after garnering all the attention of the Indian audience will be releasing in Japan. The revelation comes out as a joyful news to all the Laapata Ladies fans out there.
Kiran Rao took to her Instagram today to unveil the big news. The director-producer revealed the Japanese title of the film along with the release date. Kiran shared a Japanese dubbed trailer of the Indian film Laapata Ladies, with a caption that read, “Laapataa Ladies will be found in Japan from October 4, 2024! We are so excited for our theatrical release in Japan by Shochiku, Japan – arigato gozaimasu!
Laapataa Ladies’ is the story of two new brides, played by Nitanshi Goel and Pratibha Ranta, who get exchanged on a train. The comedy-drama challenges patriarchy while using the narrative tool of satire.
Earlier, the film was screened at the Supreme Court. The screening of the 2024 movie was held as part of a gender sensitization program and was attended by judges of the apex court. The film was a decent grosser at the box office when it hit cinema halls on March 1 and was an even bigger success on Netflix, where it broke several viewership records.
Co-produced by Aamir Khan, Lapataa Ladies also stars Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan, Chhaya Kadam, and Geeta Aggarwal Sharma in pivotal roles. The film is based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami. The screenplay and dialogue are crafted by Sneha Desai, with additional dialogue by Divyanidhi Sharma.
