Rani Mukerji is gearing up to reprise her role as the formidable cop ‘Shivani Shivaji Roy’ in the next instalment of the ‘Mardaani’ franchise, with shooting set to commence in the first quarter of 2025.
According to sources close to the project, ‘Mardaani’ is a franchise that holds a special place in the hearts of both Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra. After extensive development, the duo, along with an in-house team of writers, has finally locked in a script that upholds the powerful legacy of the previous films. The source revealed, “The team has been meticulously crafting the screenplay, and it’s now in its final stages. Once that’s completed, the film will move into pre-production, with all systems go for an early 2025 shoot.”
As with the earlier films, the upcoming ‘Mardaani’ chapter promises a gripping narrative with a villain as menacing as those portrayed by Tahir Raj Bhasin in ‘Mardaani’ and Vishal Jethwa in ‘Mardaani 2’. “The franchise is known for its intense antagonists, and this new chapter will be no different. Rani Mukerji’s character will once again face off against a powerful adversary, making the stakes even higher,” the source added.
With the film slated to roll soon, fans can expect another intense and compelling story that continues the legacy of ‘Mardaani’ in 2025.
Before moving on to Mardaani, Rani is expected to complete shooting for director Shonali Bose’s family dramedy for Junglee Pictures. Stay tuned to Fameplayers for more updates and insights.
