In a fiery, entertaining twist to Maharashtra’s election buzz, Bollywood star Riteish Deshmukh lit up Latur, campaigning for his brother, Congress leader Dhiraj Deshmukh. Known for his comedic flair, the Housefull actor didn’t hold back, launching sharp jabs at parties claiming “religion is in danger.” With biting humor, he said, “If your religion’s in danger, it’s your party that’s truly in trouble!” His message to voters was clear: let development, not fear, be the real agenda.

Drawing on Lord Krishna’s teachings of karma (work) as dharma (religion), Riteish emphasized that meaningful work is a real act of faith. He urged the crowd to recognize their vote’s power in building a future with jobs and fair prices for farmers—two key issues facing Maharashtra’s youth and rural communities.

In the Deshmukh family face-off against BJP’s Ramesh Karad for the Latur (Rural) seat, Dhiraj Deshmukh, who won by over a lakh votes in 2019, is looking to solidify his position with his brother’s support. As the November 20 election date nears, Riteish’s humorous-yet-piercing speech could be a game-changer in Maharashtra’s political drama.
