The India’s Got Latent controversy continues to spiral as popular content creators Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia have been declared guilty of obscenity by the Maharashtra Cyber Police. The development comes after the duo appeared before cyber officials on April 15, responding to summons issued following public outrage over allegedly inappropriate and offensive remarks made during the controversial digital talk show. The case stems from a viral clip posted in February 2025, where Ranveer’s remark about parental intimacy sparked immediate backlash, resulting in multiple FIRs filed against the creators involved.

According to a report by The Indian Express, the Cyber Police conducted a detailed investigation and concluded that the content shared on the show qualified as obscene under the legal framework set by the Honourable Supreme Court of India. Yashasvi Yadav, Additional Director General of Police (Cyber), stated during a recent press event that in Indian culture, parental figures are held in deep regard, and any vulgar or lascivious statements about them are not only socially unacceptable but legally punishable. He explained that the show’s tone and language crossed a moral line and were designed to attract views through sensationalism.

The cyber officials further asserted that the creators deliberately used obscene and provocative content to drive engagement and generate ad revenue. “There is a lot of obscenity, which the show uses to generate more views and likes, and that leads to revenue generation,” Yadav explained. He also confirmed that the first chargesheet in the case will be filed soon, and legal proceedings are likely to intensify. All episodes of India’s Got Latent have already been deleted from all platforms in the wake of the outrage.

The controversy has sparked a wider debate on the limits of digital freedom and accountability among online influencers. Along with Samay and Ranveer, other creators like Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani were also part of the show and may face similar scrutiny. As legal action progresses, many are calling for clearer guidelines and better content moderation on platforms that allow creators to reach massive audiences. Meanwhile, fans and critics alike await official statements from those involved as the situation continues to unfold.
