Taapsee Pannu opened a production house called Outsider Films. Clearly, she prides herself on being an outsider to the film industry. However, in an recent interview, the actor confessed the one lesson she’s learnt from the so-called nepo- kids in Bollywood.

Taapsee quoted-“It’s a different opinion from a lot of others. One thing that is good about people who have parents or siblings or any other family member in the industry, the so-called nepotism people or the people who they say have come into the industry through nepotism, one really good thing that I’ve learnt from them is how to stay together, stick together, and support each other. Which a lot of us, people from outside, don’t have as much as they have for each other,”

In a candid discussion about the dynamics between outsiders and star kids in Bollywood, Taapsee Pannu highlighted a key difference she’s observed. Taapsee pointed out that while outsiders in the industry are often supportive of each other, there’s a deep-seated sense of competition that sometimes breeds insecurity.

“We’re so used to struggling, hustling, and constantly competing,” she remarked. Taapsee noted that although outsiders tend to respect each other and appreciate one another’s work, they often find it challenging to truly stand by each other in the way that industry kids do.

She explained that the children of industry insiders tend to show more unity and support, often recommending and standing by each other, regardless of whether their films are hits or misses. “It’s something we outsiders could learn from them,” Taapsee added, emphasizing that this camaraderie is one positive aspect of the insider culture that could benefit those from outside the traditional Bollywood circle.

Her reflections offer a thoughtful critique on how the pressures of competition can impact relationships among outsiders in the industry.

Taapsee recently starred in Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba and Khel Khel Mein. She will be next seen in Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan. Taapsee has produced two films – Blurr (2022) and Dhak Dhak (2023) under her production house, Outsider Films.
