Just ahead of its release, Rajinikanth’s highly awaited film Vettaiyan is facing heavy backlash from Thalapathy Vijay’s fanbase. The film, directed by TJ Gnanavel, is being labeled a “disaster” on social media, with the hashtag “#VettaiyanDisaster” trending due to reports of poor advance bookings in several theaters.
Vijay’s fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize the movie, posting screenshots of empty seats and sharing sarcastic videos mocking the underwhelming pre-release performance. Many fans pointed out the numerous unsold seats in popular multiplexes, casting doubt on the film’s initial success.
The trolling seems to be fueled by the long-standing rivalry between Vijay and Rajinikanth’s fanbases. Despite this, Vettaiyan has already collected ₹10.96 Cr in advance bookings, with expectations still high for the Tamil and Hindi versions of the film, especially with the presence of Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan.
The ongoing feud between the two stars’ fans adds more drama to the box office battle, as Rajinikanth aims to prove the critics wrong once Vettaiyan hits the screens.
