Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, one of India’s most adored couples, are known for their genuine connection and grounded nature. Despite their global fame, they keep their personal lives under the radar, mostly living in London with their two young children, Vamika and Akaay.
Recently, Anushka made an appearance at a Mumbai event for a food brand she endorses. This event offered a rare peek into her life as a mother. Anushka shared that she and Virat love cooking for their kids, often trying to recreate their favorite family recipes. She even joked about calling her mom for help with the recipes from time to time.
Anushka’s social life has changed significantly since becoming a parent. She laughed about how her social circle now mainly includes other parents, saying, “People invite us to dinner, and I’m like… you’re probably eating a snack at the time we eat dinner.” She recognizes that having kids brings a major lifestyle shift, but she seems to embrace it with humor and grace.
When it comes to parenting, Anushka believes in leading by example. She thinks that children learn more from seeing how their parents live rather than from direct instructions. “My daughter is very young, and I don’t think I can teach her anything directly. It’s more about how we live our lives. Are we showing gratitude to others in our daily life? That’s what children learn from,” she explained.
For Anushka, teaching her kids about gratitude means showing it in her own actions. She feels that children pick up on what they observe and that it’s crucial for parents to demonstrate the behaviors they want their children to adopt. If their children misbehave, she sees it as a normal part of growing up and believes in gently guiding them rather than expecting perfection.
Anushka and Virat’s first child, Vamika, was born in 2021, and their second child, Akaay, arrived earlier this year. Speaking at the event, Anushka mentioned that there’s no need to be a perfect parent. “But we’re not perfect, and that’s okay. It’s important to show kids that we are flawed, so they don’t grow up with unrealistic expectations,” she said.
Anushka’s next film, Chakda Xpress, will showcase her in the role of an Indian cricketer, Jhulan Goswami. Her last film was Zero, where she starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Through both her personal and professional life, Anushka continues to set an example with her honest and relatable approach.
