After a long hiatus, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is making his much-anticipated return with Sitaare Zameen Par, set to release on June 20, 2025. Directed by R. S. Prasanna, the film is described as a spiritual sequel to Aamir’s critically acclaimed Taare Zameen Par (2007). While the earlier film focused on the emotional journey of a child with dyslexia, Sitaare Zameen Par explores a new narrative centered around a basketball coach training a team of special individuals, offering a fresh but heartfelt twist.
Aamir recently unveiled the first-look poster, which features him alongside ten debutant actors. The cast includes Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. Fans were thrilled at the reveal, with comments flooding social media. One fan wrote, “1000 Cr loading Aamir Sir!!! Inshallah,” while another said, “Ready to sob.”
The film also stars Genelia Deshmukh in the female lead and marks the reunion of Aamir with the celebrated musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The screenplay is written by Divy Nidhi Sharma, and the project is jointly produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under Aamir Khan Productions. Notably, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recently approved the trailer with a UA certificate, and early reactions to the trailer have been very positive.
A first-hand review shared by actor Kuldeep Gadhvi and reshared by co-producer Ravi Bhagchandka praised the trailer’s blend of comedy and emotion. Aamir’s character “Gulshan” was noted to be a stark contrast to his former role as the gentle teacher Nikumbh. The trailer reportedly runs for 3 minutes and 29 seconds and features performances from supporting actors like Brijendra Kala, Sonali Kulkarni, Suresh Menon, and Darsheel Safary.
