AR Rahman recently opened up about the rising use of artificial intelligence in the music industry, calling it an “impending chaos” that urgently needs regulation and control. In an interview with Mashable India, the music maestro expressed deep concern over how AI is being used to replicate voices of popular singers without consent. He highlighted how some AI-generated songs are not only inappropriate but also misuse the identities of respected artists. “I don’t know who’s going to take responsibility. Some of the songs are so filthy, yet they’re released using the voices of popular singers. This needs to be controlled, or else there will be chaos,” he said.

Despite his concerns, Rahman is also exploring the potential of technology in music in his own creative way. He revealed that he’s been experimenting with Unreal Engine to set up a virtual band using metahumans—digital avatars with diverse backgrounds and personalities. This project reflects his interest in blending cutting-edge innovation with traditional music, but under ethical guidance.

Meanwhile, Rahman has been making headlines for his latest release, “Jinguchaa,” the first single from the upcoming film Thug Life, starring Kamal Haasan. Written by Haasan himself, the song is a high-energy wedding anthem, featuring Silambarasan TR and Sanya Malhotra. The vibrant beats and colorful visuals have already captured fans’ attention online.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, Thug Life is set to release on June 5, 2025, and marks the director’s second collaboration with Kamal Haasan after Nayakan. Alongside Rahman’s music, the film features a stellar ensemble cast including Trisha Krishnan, Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Pankaj Tripathi. With this, and other projects like Tere Ishk Mein, Genie, and Peddi, Rahman continues to push musical boundaries while staying rooted in strong values.
