Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel has recently opened up about her long-standing friendship with superstar Salman Khan, revealing why she believes he’s better off remaining unmarried and sharing the affectionate nickname he gave her.
In a candid conversation with Filmymantra Media, the Gadar 2 actress spoke about Salman’s personality and the bond they’ve shared over the years, particularly after working together in the 2002 film Yeh Hai Jalwa. Despite the film’s modest performance at the box office, the duo developed a close, lasting friendship.
“I wouldn’t want to see Salman married,” Ameesha said, describing him as “a cool dude” who is loving, caring, and universally adored. She emphasized that Salman’s bachelor status suits him perfectly, and there’s no need for him to conform to social expectations. “He’s good to everyone just the way he is,” she added.
When asked if she could imagine herself marrying Salman Khan, Ameesha laughed off the idea, saying their bond is more sibling-like than romantic. “This is our relationship,” she said. “I cannot even view myself like that. I’m just happy being a good friend to him and the whole family.”
She also shared a personal anecdote from their friendship, revealing that Salman once nicknamed her “Meena Kumari” because of her emotional nature — especially when falling for his notorious pranks. The nickname, she said, perfectly reflects their playful yet emotionally warm relationship.
The actress took a moment to reflect on the diverse relationships she has observed in the industry, referencing couples like Sanjay Dutt and his wife as well as Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan, who have remained close friends post-divorce. These examples, she said, taught her not to judge or generalize how relationships work.
On the professional front, Salman Khan is currently busy with an action thriller co-starring Sanjay Dutt and also has Kick 2 in development. Ameesha Patel has not yet announced her next film.
