Mumbai, April 23, 2025 — At the highly anticipated trailer launch of Netflix’s upcoming series The Royals, actress Bhumi Pednekar addressed swirling rumors about her being cast opposite Imran Khan in his much-talked-about Bollywood comeback. While fans eagerly await Imran’s return to the big screen after nearly a decade, speculation has been rife that Bhumi will be the female lead in the project. However, the actress kept things coy, saying, “I never speak of anything until it’s officially announced.”

Bhumi plays Sophia Kanmani Shekhar, a bold, self-made CEO, while Ishaan Khatter portrays Aviraaj Singh, a modern-day prince reluctantly caught up in palace drama. Directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, the series is set for a May 9 release on Netflix.
