After a blockbuster 2023 with Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up to return to the big screen with King, an action-packed thriller directed by Siddharth Anand. The film is set to go on floors on May 18 in Mumbai, and now there’s even more excitement around it, as Deepika Padukone has officially joined the cast. While initially her schedule didn’t align due to her maternity break and fitness training, delays in King‘s production allowed her to come on board.

Deepika’s role in King is described as an extended cameo, with around 10 to 12 days of shoot scheduled for October. According to sources, she was always SRK’s top choice, but due to availability issues, other names like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Katrina Kaif were considered. Eventually, everything aligned and Deepika signed on. Her character is said to play a significant part in the film’s narrative.

King features a power-packed cast, including Abhishek Bachchan, Suhana Khan, Abhay Verma, Arshad Warsi, and Jaideep Ahlawat. The makers are also reportedly eyeing Amitabh Bachchan for another pivotal role, although no official confirmation has been made. The film aims to blend intense action with strong character arcs, promising a high-stakes drama.

In terms of music, the film has brought together a dynamic musical team. Sachin-Jigar are composing the songs, while Anirudh Ravichander has been brought on board for the background score. Given their individual strengths, this collaboration is expected to enhance both the emotional and action-driven aspects of the film.

The team plans to shoot across India and Europe, with several international action directors roped in to choreograph the film’s high-octane sequences. King is aiming for a grand release in the last quarter of 2026, with the final date to be decided once shooting begins. All eyes are now on this SRK–Deepika reunion, which promises to deliver yet another cinematic spectacle.
