Dhanush’s much-anticipated film Idly Kadai, which marks his fourth directorial venture, has been postponed to a Diwali 2025 release. The film, initially scheduled for an April 10 release, will now hit theaters on October 1, 2025. The rescheduling comes after the original release date was set to clash with Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly. The makers decided to move the release to Diwali for reasons yet to be fully disclosed.
Recently, Dhanush wrapped up shooting for Idly Kadai, and the production house shared heartwarming pictures of him with the team, celebrating the completion. In the pictures, Dhanush is seen smiling alongside his co-stars and producer Akash Baskaran, dressed casually in a brown sweatshirt and white trousers.
The film, which stars Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Prakash Raj, Sathyaraj, and others, encountered a major setback when a fire broke out on set in Anupapatti village, Theni district, Tamil Nadu. Thankfully, no casualties were reported, though the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Despite this incident, the film’s production has successfully concluded.
Idly Kadai is produced by Dhanush’s own Wunderbar Films, and its postponement has only added to the buzz surrounding the film. In addition to this, Dhanush has a packed slate with Tere Ishk Mein and Kuberaa, the latter of which features Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna. The first single from Kuberaa, titled “Poyivaa Nanba,” has already become a chartbuster, showcasing Dhanush’s vocal talent once again.
