Cricketer KL Rahul recently shared a heartwarming behind-the-scenes moment from his journey into parenthood, revealing how the name of his newborn daughter, Evaarah, came to be—and how it wasn’t an easy decision at first.
Rahul, who currently plays for Delhi Capitals in the IPL, disclosed that he discovered the name Evaarah while browsing online and was instantly drawn to its uniqueness and meaning. Despite his enthusiasm, his wife, Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty, wasn’t immediately convinced.
“We had a couple of baby name books, and some suggestions from close friends,” Rahul said. “But when I came across Evaarah, something about it just clicked with me. I looked up the meaning, and it felt right.”
However, the final decision took some gentle persuasion. According to Rahul, Athiya needed time to warm up to the name. But with support from both their families, especially the enthusiastic response from the grandparents, the couple eventually agreed.
The couple had shared the first glimpse of their daughter last month, coinciding with Rahul’s birthday, much to the delight of their fans. The birth of Evaarah was originally announced in March through a heartfelt Instagram post by Athiya.
Athiya and Rahul, who tied the knot on January 23, 2023, in a private ceremony at Suniel Shetty’s Khandala farmhouse, continue to maintain a relatively private life. Yet, glimpses into their relationship and growing family have charmed both cricket and cinema fans alike.
Suniel Shetty also expressed his joy in a recent LinkedIn post, writing, “Becoming a grandfather recently is a feeling I can’t even describe. It’s a happiness that’s pure and untouched by anything the world can give or take away.”
In earlier interviews, Athiya has described her relationship with Rahul as grounded in shared values, despite their contrasting personalities. “We’re different in many ways, but he just gets me. Even when I can’t put my feelings into words, he knows,” she told Cosmopolitan.
As little Evaarah becomes the newest addition to this beloved celebrity family, fans can only hope for more glimpses of her charming journey ahead.
