After much speculation, Kriti Sanon has emerged as the frontrunner to play the leading lady opposite Ranveer Singh, who is stepping into the iconic role of Don. Directed by Farhan Akhtar, Don 3 marks his return to direction after more than a decade and promises to be a global-scale action extravaganza, continuing the legacy set by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in the earlier renditions.
The casting of Kriti Sanon comes after Kiara Advani, who was initially signed for the film, had to step away due to her pregnancy. Sources close to the project shared with Pinkvilla that Kriti has already agreed in principle and is likely to officially sign on the dotted line in the coming weeks. “Farhan and Excel Entertainment wanted a strong, experienced actress who could hold her own opposite a towering figure like Don. Kriti brings elegance, intensity, and star power—everything the role of Roma demands,” the source revealed. Roma, an integral character in the Don universe, has previously been portrayed memorably by Zeenat Aman and Priyanka Chopra.
Farhan Akhtar and the team have reportedly already locked most of the film’s shooting locations. Don 3 will be filmed primarily in Europe, with the director collaborating with a renowned international stunt team to choreograph jaw-dropping action sequences. “The scripting is done, and currently, the team is finalizing the action blocks and polishing the screenplay. A few months of intense pre-production lie ahead, but the plan is to hit the floors by October or November 2025,” the insider added.
This project marks the first-ever on-screen collaboration between Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon, and expectations are soaring. Ranveer’s casting as Don had already sparked huge curiosity when the announcement was made in 2024, setting the stage for a new interpretation of the beloved anti-hero.
