Mumbai – Krrish 4 is not only making headlines for its much-awaited return to the big screen but also for the emotional milestone it represents within the Roshan family. The film marks Hrithik Roshan’s directorial debut, and the news has left his family deeply moved, especially his sister, Sunaina Roshan.
In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, Sunaina opened up about the emotional moment when Hrithik’s directorial role was revealed, describing it as an overwhelming and proud family milestone. She recalled, “Dad, before announcing it, told me that he’s coming down, and I’m like, ‘What?’ I thought something was wrong that he’s coming down. And then he said, ‘I’m announcing Krrish.’ I said, ‘Wow, that’s amazing.’ And he goes, ‘Well, your brother is directing it.’”
Sunaina continued, revealing the deeply emotional reaction that followed: “He started crying, I started crying. And now, you know, my brother’s actually taking dad’s shoes a bit further to direct the movie. I’m damn sure he’ll make a good director because even when he was an assistant director, he used to suggest changes to dad in the scenes.”
The moment was even more poignant because of her father, Rakesh Roshan’s, reaction: “I’ve never seen dad cry, so that was overwhelming too. I had no idea about Hrithik turning director, it was a complete surprise. Dad had tears in his eyes, and that’s when I started howling. It was a proud moment that Duggu is turning director, a very proud yet overwhelming moment. And now, he’ll take the legacy forward.”
The affectionate mention of Hrithik’s nickname “Duggu” adds a personal touch to the tribute, showcasing the emotional bond shared within the Roshan family. Earlier this year, in March 2025, Rakesh Roshan officially handed over the directorial baton of Krrish 4 to Hrithik. On social media, Sunaina had expressed her pride, calling Krrish “Papa and Duggu’s dream project,” and sharing her joy at watching her father and brother carry that vision forward.
