Rajkummar Rao recently took to Instagram to express his immense pride and admiration for his wife, Patralekhaa, after watching her latest film Phule. The actor, who is currently promoting his own upcoming movie Bhul Chuk Maaf, shared a heartfelt note calling Patralekhaa a “pure artist” and lauding her portrayal of Savitribai Phule in the biographical drama.
Directed by Anand Mahadevan, Phule tells the story of Jyotirao and Savitribai Phule, the 19th-century social reformers who fought against caste discrimination and championed women’s education. Patralekhaa’s performance as Savitribai has been widely appreciated, with audiences applauding her dedication and emotional depth. Rajkummar highlighted several powerful moments in the film, including a scene where her character slaps a man, which reportedly drew cheers from theatergoers.
In his post, Rajkummar wrote, “@patralekhaa words cannot express my emotions after seeing your performance in Phule. I’m really impressed to see you play Savitribai Phule ji, which is such a difficult role to portray. You are truly a gifted artist.” He also recalled being equally moved by her earlier work in IC814: The Kandahar Hijack, especially a phone scene that, in his words, few actors could pull off with such sincerity.
The actor went on to commend Patralekhaa for her resilience and hard work in the film industry, noting that she has always carved her own path without any external support. “You’ve done everything on your own. I’ve seen you work so hard for so many years. Now it’s your time,” he wrote. “I’m a very proud husband. Har jeewan ke hum saathi.”
As Phule slowly gains momentum at the box office, Patralekhaa’s performance continues to garner acclaim. Her husband’s public appreciation adds a deeply personal touch to her professional success, showing that behind the screen, there’s a strong bond of mutual respect and support between the two talented actors.
