Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited thriller Raid 2 is off to a flying start at the box office and continues to show strength on its second day. The film, which released on May 1, 2025, opened to a solid ₹17 crore collection, fueled by a partial holiday on Labour Day and Maharashtra Day. According to morning trends on Day 2, the film is holding steady with a marginal dip, indicating strong audience interest and positive word of mouth.

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 is the sequel to the 2018 hit Raid and brings back the sharp and fearless IRS officer Amay Patnaik, played by Ajay Devgn. This time, the narrative is set seven years after the events of the original, and follows Patnaik’s 75th raid—his most challenging one yet—targeting a powerful politician, Dada Manohar Bhai, portrayed by Riteish Deshmukh. The crime drama blends patriotic undertones with intense confrontations and legal tension, making it a gripping watch.

Vaani Kapoor joins the franchise as Malini Patnaik, replacing Ileana D’Cruz from the original. Her role adds emotional depth to the film, while Saurabh Shukla lends his strong screen presence to the high-stakes political drama. With such a stellar cast and a tightly-woven plot, Raid 2 has clearly struck a chord with both critics and the audience.

Advance booking trends have also backed the film’s performance. Over 82,000 tickets were sold in the top multiplex chains—PVR Inox and Cinepolis—on opening day alone. With the weekend approaching, Raid 2 is expected to see a healthy jump in numbers, aiming for a successful four-day opening weekend at the box office.

Produced by T-Series, Raid 2 continues to enjoy the goodwill of the original film, while elevating the stakes with more drama, power-packed performances, and a narrative that resonates with today’s socio-political climate. With a stable Friday and positive momentum, the film is well on track to emerge as one of the biggest thrillers of the year.
