Superstar Rajinikanth is currently deep into filming Jailer 2, the much-anticipated sequel to his 2023 blockbuster. While fans await official updates, a recent report has stirred excitement by hinting at a powerful cameo by none other than Nandamuri Balakrishna, a Padma Bhushan awardee.
As reported by Gulte, Balakrishna—fondly known as NBK—has reportedly been approached for a special appearance in Jailer 2, similar to the memorable cameos by Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal in the first film. Although the makers have yet to confirm this, the speculation alone has created a stir among fans of both South Indian legends.
The film is being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, who returns after the success of the original Jailer, which told the gripping story of a retired jail warden seeking revenge for his son’s death. That film’s ensemble cast included Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, Sunil, and Yogi Babu.
Jailer 2 promises to build on that universe with a larger-than-life approach and more star-studded additions. Rumors also suggest that Fahadh Faasil is part of the sequel, reuniting with Rajinikanth after Vettaiyan. Additionally, it’s speculated that both Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal may reprise their roles.
Recently, Rajinikanth wrapped a schedule in Kerala, with photos from the sets going viral on social media. The visuals have only added to the buzz, showing the superstar in a rugged, action-ready avatar.
On Rajinikanth’s Work Front:
Beyond Jailer 2, Rajinikanth is also gearing up for the massive action entertainer Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film is expected to be a multi-starrer, featuring Nagarjuna, Upendra Rao, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir, with Aamir Khan in a cameo.
Coolie is slated to hit theatres on August 14, 2025, where it will face off at the box office against the highly awaited War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.
