Award-winning actress Shefali Shah recently opened up about how the crime drama Delhi Crime changed the course of her career. Speaking at a FICCI FLO event in Lucknow, the actress called the International Emmy-winning series a “defining moment” in her life, sharing that it finally brought recognition to her art.

Shefali, who plays the lead role of DCP Vartika Chaturvedi, said, “That happened with Delhi Crime for me, where my art was appreciated and I had the opportunity to play a lead role and work at my age.” Despite being a veteran in the industry, the actress noted that meaningful roles came her way only in recent years, largely due to the rise of OTT platforms.

She further pointed out the limitations of traditional cinema, saying it often lacked space for real and relatable characters. However, the streaming space has opened up new possibilities, especially for seasoned actors looking to portray layered roles. While acknowledging that nothing can replace the theatrical experience, Shefali called OTT platforms a “blessing.”

Meanwhile, Delhi Crime Season 3, announced in February 2025, will focus on a human trafficking case and introduce Huma Qureshi as the antagonist. The upcoming season, directed by Tanuj Chopra, will follow DIG Vartika as she uncovers a dangerous network after a child’s mother goes missing.

The ensemble cast also includes Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, Sayani Gupta, Mita Vashisht, and Jaya Bhattacharya. Season 3 is set to premiere on Netflix later this year, with the official release date still under wraps.
