In a surprising move that has stirred excitement among film buffs, the much-anticipated romantic fantasy Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, is set to release directly on OTT. The film, which was earlier scheduled for a theatrical release on May 9, will now premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 16, 2025, as announced by the makers on social media.

The decision to bypass a theatrical release comes as a strategic shift in distribution, aiming to capture a larger and more diverse digital audience. Backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and directed by Karan Sharma, Bhool Chuk Maaf blends small-town romance with a unique sci-fi twist—time travel. The plot follows Ranjan, played by Rajkummar Rao, a government job aspirant trying to win the heart of his longtime crush Titli, portrayed by Wamiqa Gabbi. However, on the day of his wedding, Ranjan finds himself caught in a bizarre time loop that forces him to confront his emotions, decisions, and destiny until he can escape the cycle.

The film’s trailer has received an overwhelming response online. Its vibrant visuals, heartfelt comedy, and the fresh remix of the classic Love Aaj Kal song “Chor Bazari” have generated high anticipation among viewers. The unusual mix of romantic comedy and science fiction has made it one of the most original storylines coming out of Bollywood this year.

Adding to the film’s charm is a strong supporting cast, featuring veteran actors like Sanjay Mishra, Seema Pahwa, Zakir Hussain, Raghubir Yadav, Ishtiyak Khan, and Anubha Fatehpuria. Their presence is expected to add depth, humor, and emotional gravitas to the narrative, making the film more than just a quirky rom-com.

With its heartfelt storytelling, time-loop twist, and an exciting new pairing of Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, Bhool Chuk Maaf is poised to become a must-watch on OTT. Audiences can catch it streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video from May 16, 2025.
